Central Pattaya runs along Beach Road, the curving strip that follows Pattaya's main bay, with Second Road and Third Road forming parallel corridors set back from the sand. This is the busiest, most built-up part of the city — the highest concentration of hotels, malls, street food, and bars — and it runs south into Walking Street, Pattaya's best-known nightlife strip, which closes to traffic each evening and fills with bars, clubs, and street vendors.

Dense, loud, and always active — Beach Road rarely feels quiet, with traffic, street vendors, and music from bars running late into the night, especially the closer you get to Walking Street at the southern end.

Transportation & practical information

Baht buses run a continuous loop along Beach Road and Second Road for a flat fare, making this the easiest area in Pattaya to get around without a car. Grab and metered taxis are widely available. Suvarnabhumi Airport is roughly 1.5–2 hours away by road.

Not necessary for a stay focused on Central Pattaya, Jomtien, or Naklua — baht buses and Grab cover the main beach corridor well. A rental car or scooter becomes more useful for day trips outside the city (to Sriracha, Ban Amphur, or inland attractions), though the same licensing rules apply as elsewhere in Thailand: a motorcycle-endorsed license plus an International Driving Permit for a scooter.
