Where to Stay in Jaipur

Jaipur is Rajasthan's capital and the third stop on the classic Golden Triangle, after Delhi and Agra. Its old walled city, painted pink since the 1870s to welcome a visiting British prince, holds the City Palace, Hawa Mahal, and Jantar Mantar's giant stone astronomical instruments, all within walking distance of each other. Amber Fort, a hilltop palace-fortress a short drive outside the city, is usually the single most-visited sight. A couple of neighborhoods work best for a two-to-three night stay.
