Where to Stay in Sharjah

Sharjah sits right next to Dubai but feels like a different country — it's quieter, more conservative, and built around culture and heritage rather than nightlife and skyscrapers. It holds one of the largest concentrations of museums in the region and was named UNESCO's Cultural Capital of the Arab World. The two bases are Al Majaz, the waterfront entertainment district, and the Heart of Sharjah, the restored old town by the creek.

Best time to visit
Visit between November and March, when temperatures are comfortable for walking around the waterfront and old town. Summers (June–September) are hot and humid, much like the rest of the UAE.
Renting a car
Skip the rental car if you're only visiting Al Majaz and the Heart of Sharjah — both are walkable, and taxis cover the short distance between them easily.

The UAE dirham (AED) is the currency, and English is widely understood. Sharjah is dry — alcohol isn't served or sold anywhere in the emirate, including hotels, which sets it apart from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Dress more conservatively here than in Dubai; shoulders and knees covered is expected in public, not just at religious sites.
