Where to Stay in Malvarrosa, Valencia

Malvarrosa is Valencia's city beach — a wide stretch of sand backed by a long seafront promenade, about 4km east of the old town. It runs alongside El Cabanyal, a former fishing village of colorful tiled houses that's slowly being restored after decades of neglect, and it's where the city's hotel pools and terraces give way to actual sea views.

What it's actually like to stay here

Relaxed and geared toward the beach rather than sightseeing — the promenade fills with joggers, cyclists, and families by day and paella restaurants by evening. It's busiest on summer weekends with day-tripping locals; outside July and August it's noticeably calmer.

Best for anyone who wants an actual beach holiday built into a city trip, and for families who'll use the wide sand and flat promenade more than the old town's museums.

Walkability
The promenade itself is flat and very walkable for kilometers in either direction, and most hotels sit right on it. Reaching the old town on foot takes close to an hour, so it's really a tram-and-walk neighborhood rather than a walk-everywhere one.
Noise at night
Quiet compared to the old town — mostly residential streets behind a promenade that's lively but not loud. Restaurant terraces along the seafront can get busy on summer evenings, but there's little of the old town's bar-district noise.

Transportation & practical information

Metrovalencia's tram lines 4 and 6 stop right at Malvarrosa and connect to the center in about 20 minutes; several EMT bus lines also run along the seafront. There's no metro station directly on the beach itself, so most journeys involve a short walk to a tram stop.

Skip a car if you're staying in the city. Ciutat Vella's streets are narrow and largely pedestrianized, parking is scarce and expensive everywhere central, and the metro/tram network already covers the old town, Russafa, and the beach directly. Rent one only for day trips outside the city — the Albufera lagoon or inland towns — where public transport gets thin.
