Jungmun is Jeju's purpose-built resort strip, a cluster of large international hotels set above Jungmun Saekdal Beach on the island's south coast. It's the most polished, consolidated part of Jeju for a resort-style stay, with golf courses, museums, and the Jusangjeolli columnar basalt cliffs all within a short drive.

Jungmun feels distinctly resort-built — manicured hotel grounds, a wide beach, and attractions like the Teddy Bear Museum and Yeomiji Botanical Garden clustered nearby. It's more polished and touristy than Jeju City or Seogwipo, with less of an everyday-local feel, and restaurants inside the complex tend to run pricier.

Quiet by design — the resorts sit on spacious grounds, and the loudest thing most nights is the beach itself. There's little of the street-level nightlife found in Jeju City.

Transportation & practical information

About 40-45 minutes from Jeju International Airport by car, and roughly 15-20 minutes from downtown Seogwipo. Public buses reach Jungmun, but a car or taxi makes it far easier to explore beyond the resort grounds.

Jeju's main attractions — waterfalls, cliffs, oreum (volcanic cones), and beaches — are spread across the whole island, and bus connections between them are far less frequent than mainland subway lines. Renting a car is the standard way to see Jeju beyond a single base, and most hotels have parking. If you're staying only in Jungmun or only in Jeju City's Tapdong area, though, a car isn't necessary for that area alone.
