Kop van Zuid is the redeveloped south bank of the Nieuwe Maas, directly across the water from Centrum via the Erasmus Bridge. Once the departure point for Holland America Line passenger ships bound for the US, its old harbor buildings now sit alongside glass high-rises on Wilhelminapier, including Hotel New York, the line's former headquarters. It's Rotterdam's most consistently modern-looking district, and the closest base for postcard views of the Erasmus Bridge and skyline.

Spacious and modern, with wide waterside promenades, glass towers, and noticeably less foot traffic than Centrum. It feels more like a planned riverside district than an old neighborhood, calm in the evenings outside of Wilhelminapier's restaurants.
