Chinatown sits in the oldest part of Kuala Lumpur, centered on the covered market street Petaling Street (Jalan Petaling), a short walk from the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Merdeka Square. It's the most affordable of the city's central districts, with pre-war shophouses, temples, and street food packed into a compact, walkable grid.
