Centro Storico is Rome's dense historic core, packed into a tight loop of the Tiber. The Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and the Trevi Fountain all sit within a five- to ten-minute walk of each other, along with Campo de' Fiori and countless smaller churches and piazzas in between. It's largely car-free cobblestone streets, and it's the most visited part of the city.

Transportation & practical information

No metro line runs directly through Centro Storico — the nearest stations (Barberini, Spagna) are a 10–15 minute walk from its center — but its size means most visitors just walk everywhere within it. Buses run along its edges.

Don't plan on driving here. Centro Storico sits inside Rome's ZTL restricted zone, streets are narrow and mostly pedestrian or one-way, and there's no practical parking. Walking covers everything in the neighborhood.
