Where to Stay in Silom, Bangkok

Silom Road is Bangkok's traditional financial district by day and home to the Patpong night market after dark. Sathorn, the road running parallel to it, is calmer and leafier, lined with embassies, international banks, and several of the city's 5-star hotels. Both sit on the BTS Silom Line and are a short ride from Lumphini Park and the river.

Suits business travelers by day, with office towers and suits on the Silom side; it shifts after dark around Patpong, where night-market stalls and bars take over the street. The Sathorn side stays calmer and more residential throughout.

Transportation & practical information

The BTS Silom Line runs both roads, with stations at Sala Daeng, Chong Nonsi, and Surasak; Saphan Taksin, at the line's southern end, connects to the Chao Phraya Express Boat for river access.

Skip renting a car. Bangkok's traffic is some of the worst in Southeast Asia, parking is scarce, and the BTS, MRT, and Chao Phraya Express Boat network already reach every central neighborhood faster than driving would.
