Transportation & practical information

No metro stop inside the old town itself, but it's a 10–15 minute walk from Plaça d'Espanya (the main bus and train hub) and well served by city buses along its edges. The airport bus (A1) also stops at Plaça d'Espanya. There's no beach in the old town — Cala Major and Ciutat Jardí are each about a 15–20 minute bus or taxi ride away.

Skip the car if you're only staying in the city — the old town's streets are narrow, mostly pedestrianized, and parking is scarce and expensive. Rent one only if you're planning day trips into the Serra de Tramuntana mountains or to beaches further round the coast, where public transport thins out.
