Haeundae is Busan's flagship beach district, a 1.5-kilometer sweep of sand on the city's east side, walled in by a dense line of hotel and apartment towers. It's the most built-up and recognizable part of the coastline — the beach itself is genuinely wide and swimmable, and the promenade behind it is lined with cafes, seafood restaurants, and the Sea Life Busan Aquarium.

Transportation & practical information

Haeundae Station and Dongbaek Station (Busan Metro Line 2) both sit within walking distance of the beach, putting the rest of the city, including Nampo-dong and the KTX train station, within a direct subway ride.

Busan's subway network reaches Haeundae, Gwangalli, and Nampo-dong directly, and the city's coastal geography means a lot of driving involves tunnels and hills rather than direct routes. Parking near the beaches is limited and expensive in peak season. A car adds cost and stress without saving much time between the beaches and Nampo-dong.
