Condesa grew up around the oval track of a former horse-racing hippodrome, and that curved street plan still shapes the neighborhood today, wrapping around the Art Deco expanse of Parque México. It's greener and quieter than Roma Norte next door, with wide jacaranda-lined streets, a strong concentration of independent cafés and restaurants, and some of the city's best examples of 1930s and '40s residential architecture. Parque España, a smaller park a few blocks north, adds a second green anchor to the neighborhood.

Transportation & practical information

Chilpancingo and Patriotismo Metro stations sit on the neighborhood's edges, and Roma Norte, Polanco, and Chapultepec Park are all a short taxi or Metrobús ride away.

Skip the rental car. Traffic is heavy and largely unpredictable, parking is scarce in the central neighborhoods, and the Metro, Metrobús, and ride-hailing apps cover the city faster and far less stressfully than driving would.
