Laganas is a long, built-up beach strip on Zakynthos's south coast, facing the sandy bay that gives the island's National Marine Park its name. It's the busiest, most nightlife-driven base on the island, drawing a young, largely package-holiday crowd through the summer.

What it's actually like to stay here

Loud and lively, especially at night — Laganas is the closest thing Zakynthos has to a party town, with bars and clubs running late into the night along the main strip. By day it's more laid-back beach-and-sunbed territory, with boat trips to Turtle Island (Marathonisi) and the Blue Caves departing from its small harbor.
