Very walkable and compact, though the marble-paved lanes are uneven and get slippery when wet — pack shoes with real grip. Most of the old town is pedestrianized or narrow enough that cars rarely intrude.

Café and restaurant noise carries through the Liston and Spianada into the evening, especially in summer; side streets away from the two main squares are noticeably quieter after dark.

Transportation & practical information

Corfu International Airport is about 3km away, roughly a 10-minute taxi ride or a short local bus trip. The New Port, for ferries to Italy and Igoumenitsa, is walking distance from the old town. KTEL buses to island villages leave from the New Fortress area.
