Once a warehouse district serving the Canadian Pacific Railway's western terminus, Yaletown is now a compact grid of converted brick lofts, restaurant patios, and boutiques running down to the False Creek waterfront. It sits between downtown's business core and the Granville Island ferry docks, with the seawall path along False Creek right at its southern edge.

Upscale and a little quieter than downtown proper — cobblestone-style side streets, restaurant patios that fill up on warm evenings, and a steady but unhurried pace during the day.

Transportation & practical information

Good — Yaletown-Roundhouse SkyTrain station (Canada Line) is a couple of stops from Waterfront Station, and the Aquabus and False Creek Ferries run to Granville Island from the seawall.

Skip a rental car for a downtown-based trip. Parking is expensive and street parking is limited, and the SkyTrain, SeaBus, and walking cover the downtown neighborhoods faster and cheaper.
